DRUID HONOURED.
Social Tendered Mr L. B. Freeman. A social was tendered last evening to Mr L. B. Freeman to celebrate his appointment to the position of Grand President of the Grand Druids’ Lodge o£ Canterbury. The function was arranged by the Hope of St Albans Lodge, No. 2, of the United Ancient Order of Druids, and the Arch Druid, Mr H. G. B. Galbraith, presided. He said that Mr Freeman had acquired an honoured name in the craft and had enjoyed a meteoric rise to office. None of the members doubted that he would bring further honour to the St Albans Lodge. After others had spoken, Mr Freeman, in reply, thanked the members of St Albans Lodge for the honour they had accorded him. He was fully aware of the importance of his office and he would try to emulate the Druidic example of his predecessors. The lodges represented were: The Grand Lodge, Perseverance, Pioneer, Oak of Sydenham, Queen of the Oak, Anchor, Ivy of Linwood, Lily of Richmond, Royal Arch Chapter, Mistletoe, Acorn and Olive Branch. During the evening a programme of items was given.
