ANNUAL INSPECTION.
Selwyn Plantations Board Members. Members of the Selwyn Plantations Board will leave to-morrow on a two days’ tour of inspection of the land under their control. Leaving Christchurch at 8.45 a.m. a large charabanc will carry city members to the meeting place at Rolleston. With 14,000 acres of plantation land to look after, it is impossible for every area to be visited, but members plan to cover a great deal of ground. Their route lies along the main south railway line from Rolleston to Dunsandel, thence to Southbridge and Rakaia, returning to Dunsandel for lunch. After further travelling in the afternoon members will visit the nursery at Darfield, where many thousands of seedlings are cultivated under the direction of Mr R. G. Robinson, the board’s superintendent. The party will spend the night at Sheffield, where an informal meeting may be held. Districts to be visited on Friday include Springfieldj Homebush and Hororata. There will be a stop at Hororata for lunch, and the party will return to the city at 4.30 p.m.
