ACTOR PLEASED.
Charles Laughton’s Praise of Hollywood. LONDON. March 24. “ It is a marvellous demonstration of Hollywood’s generous sportsmanship, ’ said Mr Charles Laughton, the the British film actor, commenting on the selection of his “ Henry VIII.” by a film trade publication as the finest performance for 1933. He added that this American journal would have been justified in restricting the awards to Hollywood pic- “ I felt that the award should have gone to Paul Muni for his performance in “I Am a Fugitive from the Chain Gang.” In addition to Mr Laughton, a gold medal was awarded to Miss Katharine Hepburn, the American actress, for her outstanding work in the picture, “ Morning Glory.”
