ARBITRATION COURT.
Compensation Claim Settled for £350. (Special to the “ Star.”) GRE\MOUTH, February 19. In tile Arbitration Court to-day, before Mr Justice Frazer and two assessors, a settlement was announced in the claim of John Edward O’Connell, of Queenstown, executor of the estate of Kichard John O'Connell, deceased miner, who was killed by a collapse of earth in a shift at the Brian Boru Gold Dredging Company's claim at Nelson Creek on March 31, 1933. £416 was claimed, and the settlement was for £350, plus funeral expenses, £2O 16s 6d, and costs, £7 7s. James Beamsley, bushman, of Te Te Kinga, was awarded compensation as a result of an accident in the United Sawmills, Limited’s bush on October 9, 1932, when he was hit on the head by the butt end of a small tree, and as a result, totally incapacitated from working. Plaintiff was awarded full compensation to date, six months’ further full compensation, and three months 50 per cent compensation, with costs.
