A Carden Corner. Iceland Poppies.
T DO not think there is any flower so absolutely independent of seasons as the Iceland poppy, as they have been on sale in the shops from May to the present time without diminution in the supply, and are likely to carry on until the year has been girdled. The nev? strains are justifying themselves just as did the Coonaras some years ago. The “ Gartrefs ” are outstanding in their dainty colourings and are very large. They are a distinct break from the English strains of Sandford and Unwin. Not over bright in red seifs, the Gartref abounds in soft shades of cream and buff with picotee edgings and zonal markings, that make it most attractive. Sandford’s Giants justify the name, but the colours will stand improvement in their varietv. T. D. LENNIE.
