Maximum Tram Speeds.

Dear Sir, —I noticed in the columns of vour paper that the candidate for New Brighton is telling the public his policy, lie states he has been sixteen years on the board, but he has only realised now why the trams are not paying, and talks about a penny section. Now, sir. he is only copy-’ ing the Labour Party’s ticket, and when the new board brings in cheaper fares he will boast that it was his idea. Why did he not make these proposals on the previous boards? He also talks about speeding the trams up. In case he does not know, the Order-in-Council is 18 m.p.h., so how can he speed them up and defy the Order-in-Council? — I am, etc.. BRITISH.
