Tramway Chairman.
Dear Sir,—To put any policy of reorganisation into effect, it is important that the chairman of the Tramway Board should have a knowledge of the technicalities of our tramway concern. Mr Mathison s statement of Labour’s intentions in last night’s “ Star ” indicates that he has the necessary qualifications for this important position. I understand that he has had eight or nine years’ service, and quite a few years as chief executive officer of the employees’ union. Occupying that position would necessitate a study of the administration, and I have no doubt that Mr Mathison is a student. The other two elected candidates mentioned for the position of chairman have many other duties to perform: Mr Mathison has the time, energy anti ability for the position, and my advice is to give this young man the position.—l am, etc., H.A.S.
