KAHIKA’S HULL SUNK.

Explosive Ends Career of Union Company Steamer. Per Press Association. DUJvEDIN, November 4. The hull of the Union Company's old cargo steamer Kahika has found it* final resting place. The shell, which had been lying at the shore end of the export wharf for several days, was tow. ed to the spit by the tug Dunedin. An explosive charge was placed in the hull of the Kahika and when this was fired she quickly filled and sank along* side the mole. The Kahika is about the last of the Union Company's old type of cargo carrier to disappear from the seas. All the metal which was stripped from her hull is now being carried to Japan bv the steamer Nankwa Maru.
