TRAMPING CLUB.
Wanderers Have Successful Firs* Year. The membership of the Wanderers’ Tramping Club at the end of October was 103. Thfte statement is contained in the first annual report of the club, to l>e presented to the annual meeting on November 13. Of these 103, most. If not all, have paid their subscriptions. This puts the club in a sound financial position, there being a cash balance of £4 13s lOd. Assets are £7 10s lOd in excess of liabilities. The report states that all the railway tramping: excursions held during the year were regarded as club outings and were supported fairly well by members. The Railway Department was to be congratulated on the fine walks it arranged for trampers. The committee was very disappointed with the lack of initiative of members in organising tramping parties amongst themselves. This was very evident from the fact that the only time any members made use of the hostels was when the committee organised a trip. The committee urged members to get away in small parties and make use of the youth hostels. Thanks were due to Mr Ell for the fine lecture delivered on the Summit Road and Banks Peninsula.
