NEW HALL OPENED.

Bishop Brodie Offers Congratulations. The new Roman Catholic hall in Spencer Street, Addington, was officially opened last evening by his Lordship Bishop Brodie in the presence of a large number of parishioners and visitors from the Addington and neighbouring districts. The Rev Father J. P. O’Connor presided, and others on the dais were the Rev Fathers Madden, Quinn and M’Guire and Mr J. B. M’Cormack. The Rev Father O’Connor thanked Bishop Brodie for attending to open the hall. He also thanked all those who had helped in the erection of the building, particularly the builders and architects, who, he- was convinced, had carried out their work conscientiously. Bishop Brodie, in declaring the hall officially open, stated that this duty came as a pleasant one for him. When the erection of the building had been first mooted he had thought it rather a high aim for the Addington people, but he felt sure that they would have good reason to be pleased with this new venture in the near future. To all those who had been in any way connected with the erection of the building he conveyed his heartiest congratulations. A vote of thanks was passed to members of the Municipal Band who had given their services voluntarily for the evening. _________________
