MODERATOR’S VISIT.
Welcome to St Andrew’s College. The Right Rev D. D. Scott, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand. paid his official visit to St Andrew’s College yesterday afternoon. He was accompanied by the Rev A. C. Watson. representing the Board of GoverAfter the song “St Andrew’s ’’ had been sung, the head master welcomed the Moderator, stating that the College was honoured by the presence of the head of the Presbyterian Church of the Dominion. The Moderator suitably acknowledged the welcome. He said that no other Presbyterian College in New Zealand was better or more favourably known than St Andrew’s, whose name was familiar in Auckland, from which province he came. After discussing at length the connection between education and the Church, he said that hoys were tempted to leave too early their school’s halls, forgetting that while at school they were seriously engaged in the work of their life. Reflection on the importance of the work from day to day often proved to be an incentive to doing good work. If boys made the most of their time now, they would do best with their lives. TlTe solid foundation counted. Prefect B. C. Clark thanked the Moderator for his visit and address, and on the call of the head prefect the school heartily cheered the guest.
