CAPE TOWN FLIGHT.
British Holders of Non-stop Record Return Home. British Official Wireless. (Received May 3, 5.5 p.m.) RUGBY, May 2. Squadron-Leader 11. O. Gavford and Flight-Lieutenant S. Nicholette, who iwon for Britain the world non-stop longdistance record by a flight of 5309 miles from Cranwell to Waltis Bay, reached England to-day, having returned in easy stages. On landing at Farnborough, Hampshire, they were greeted by the Secretary for Air, Lord Londonderry, and many officials and friends. The airmen said that they knew before starting that they would not reach Cape Town. They had expected to come down near Walfis Bay. They then had fourteen gallons of petrol left, and 130 gallons would have been required to reach Cape Town. Neither slept during the fifty-seven hours ,of the flight:
