SIGNED ON AS COOK.

Lady Wilkins Says She Will Enjoy Herself. LONDON, April 27. “ All my women friends think that I am crazy, but I am sure I shall enjoy myself,” said Lady Wilkins, wife of Sir Hubert Wilkins, the explorer, when she announced on arrival at Southampton that she would sign on as cook with her husband’s submarine expedition to the Arctic in 1934. She said that she expected to be kept busy cooking, as there would be ten men aboard the submarine. Sir Hubert Wilkins is proceeding to Norway to join the Ellswrorth Antarctic Expedition. He said that Mr Lincoln Ellsworth and Bernt Balchen, the SwedishAmerican pilot, hoped to make a return non-stop flight across a total of 3000 miles, the longest and most daring Polar flight yet undertaken. The expedition would be absent for a year, after which he would prepare for his Arctic voyage of 2200 miles, half of which would be under the ice.
