MINING REPORTS.

Development W ork at Blackwater. The Blackwater report for March is as follows: — Crushed 3860 tons yielding 16S1 fine oz gold the value of which (taking gold at 115 s per fine oz) is £10,451. Working costs were £5669, leaving an estimated working profit for the month of £4812. Development expenditure for the month was £853. Capital expenditure for the month was £1315. Review of development work carried out during March:— No. 9 Level—The winze on the Prohibition block has reached a depth- of 34ft. For the first 20ft the reef averaged 21dwt over 19in, when the reef passed into the footwall. No. 10 Level was extended 37£ft, the last 6ft of which exposed stone 12in wide of 13£dwt value, this being the commencement of the Prohibition block. No. 11 Level—The 39*ft driven carried reef averaging 7dwt over 16in. The winze on this level at 6Soft north of shaft was sunk Ou&ft during the month, making the total depth 130ift. The remaintjer of the connection will be made from No. 12 level as soon as the level gets far enough north to be opposite the winze. The winze carried stone the full distance averaging over 24in in width. No. 12 Level was advanced 122 ft. The first 100 ft averaged 19dwt over 24in, the next 22ft averaged sdwt. over 13in. Battery Crosscut was driven on “ formation ” 59ft for the month carrying occasional boulders of quartz, the total length of this drive being now 104 ft north of crosscut. Prohibition Shaft—The chamber at No. 7 was completed and timbered and a cuddy cut to hold the sinking winch The shaft has been let on contract and sunk 29ft below the floor of No. 7 level. From this on good headway will be made as there is nothing to interfere with the sinkers. Talisman Dubbo Mine. The report from the mine manager ot Talisman Dubbo Gold Mines, Ltd., for the week ended April 1, states:—The drive at No. 1 Talisman has been extended Bft for the week. The reef is 3ft 6in wide; 20in of the hanging wall portion is of fair value, the remainder being rubbly quartz of low value. Three sets of timber have been placed. King Solomon Return. Per E’ress Association. INVERCARGILL, April 7. The wash-up at the King Solomon mine for the week totalled 60oz 4dwt.
