WOMAN SEIZED.
Sensational Happening near Waipukurau.
MONEY TAKEN FROM HOUSE. Per Press Association. WAIPUKURAU, March «• I There was a sensational happening at a house on the Hatuma Road, near Waipukurau, about 8.40 last evening, when Mrs Catherine Davies, aged sixtysix years, was seized by a man who held her while a companion ransacked the house. Mrs Davies was alone, her three sons and daughter being out, when a man called and asked for Mr Davies. After some further conversation she was seized by the visitor, who said, “ Come on, your money or your life.” He dragged her outside, threw a cloth over her head, and called to one or two others, “ All’s well.” The first man held her arms, and the other, or others, ransacked the house, switching off the electric light at the meter. The sum of £3 10s was stolen. The thieves left a warning to Mrs Davies not to follow them. She thinks that they went in the direction of Takapau in a car. Miss Davies arrived about ten minutes later and the police were notified.
