United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received March 8, 1 p.m.) LONDON, March 7. Wool available for the sales on March 14 totals 163,300 bales, including new arrivals of Australian totalling 37,000 and New Zealand 61,600. It is expected that 128,500 bales will be catalogued. SNOWY RIVER SLUICING COMPANY. The company’s engineer (Mr T. Learmont) reports that in the Alillerton tunnel two reefs have been intersected. One is 2ft 6in and the other I2in in width. No indication of the values carried bv these reefs is yet available. The company holds a prospecting license over this property, as it was considered that there was an excellent chance of discovering reefs in this section. TALISMAN DUBBO GOLD MINES, LTD. The mine manager's report for the week ended March 4, 1933, is follows: —During the week the drive at No. 1 Talisman level has been extended seven feet. The reef, which is three feet wide, is still a mixture of quartz and country rock,
and is good grade ore. Some good prospects are seen in the dish; the quart* carries some nice sulphide seams and fine gold is occasionally seen. BLACK WATER MINES, LTD. During the month of February 3310 tons of ore were treated, yielding 1703 fine ounces gold, the value of which (taking gold at 115 s per fine ounce) is £9791. Working costs were £5421, leaving an estimated working profit of £4370 l’or the month. Development expenditure for the month was £Bl3. Capital expenditure for the month was £7 40. Review of development work carried out during February:—-No. 9 level north, was extended 23ft, carrying reef tiift full distance of an average value of 16 dwts over 17in in width. No. 10 level: This point was extended 27Jft towards the Prohibition block, in blank. No. 11 level north was driven 43ft on reef, the full distanre averaging 7dwts over 22in. No. 12 level north was advanced. SSft on reef averaging I9id\\ts over 42in. The drive from the point of intersection going southwards was also extended 23ft, averaging 4jdwts over 40in. Battery crosscut was driven 39ft in a. northerly direction, following a rer-f track without exposing anything of importance. No. 11 winze at 970 north* This has been sunk to a depth of 65ft # carrying a good reef averaginb Is.4dwt» over 37in in width. Prohibition shaft: This shaft has now been stripped down to the full and correct size to the floor of No. 7 level and the chamber is now being cut and timbered. Mahakipawa Goldfields. The mine manager of Alahakipawa. Goldfields, Ltd., reported for the month, ended February 28 as follows: Soutli Face—During the month no further work was done at this face beyond a trial crosscut to the east. This was extended 6ft; values low grade, with 4ft of lx 4tom rock showing and a, fair quantity of water coming from the* back laths. No. 11 East Crosscut—This was advanced 40ft, making a total of 69ft eastThe wash has been very stoney and the bottom rock between 37ft and 57ft east much softer with better grade gold values showing in prospects taken. For the last 12ft_the prospects disclose only fine gold and”the bottom rock is hard. North Face—The second blocking strip north of No. 1 west crosscut is now called the North Face. This strip lias been advanced 1 !-ft. making a total progress of 294 ft north of the shaft crosscut. Good grade wash lias been followed resting on a soft bottom rm-ic which is at present dipping away quickly to the north. Pumps Under Repairs—Owing to the small eentrlfrugal pump which unwaters the north end being under repair for the first ten days of the month, and then power interruptions and repairs to shaft pumps during the middle of the month the north end, in wlii'-h the best values are now showing, was* flooded for twenty days of the period. No. 1 East Crosscut, South Drive—• A little blocking has been carried cut north and south of this crosscut whilst the men were unable to work in the north drive. Some high grade values were found in the wash penetrating crevices and cracks running into th<* bottom rock. Gold Return—During the month 28*5 cubic yards of wash were sent to the sluice box and returned 720 z melted gold.
