METHODIST CIRCUIT.

Ashburton Officials’ Meeting. (Special to the “ Star.”) ASHBURTON, January 12. The quarterly meeting of the Ashburton Methodist circuit officials was held in the Barring Square Schoolroom last evening. The Rev G. B. Hinton presided. The circuit stewards presented the balance-sheet, which showed that receipts for the current quarter had more than met the expenditure. It was decided that the harvest festival services should be held on the third Sunday l n March, and that half the Sunday collections be paid to the trustees. Mr Watson was elected minister’s steward, and Mr F. Frampton people’s stteward for the ensuing year. Mr G. Kelly was elected secretary for the Quarter Board. It was decided to hold a monthly Sunday service at Wakanui for the coming year. On the motion of the circuit stewards (Messrs F. Frampton and J. Watson), a unanimous invitation was extended to Sister Mildred to remain in the circuit for another year. Sister Mildred accepted, and thanked the meeting for its invitation. It was decided that £SO received from the Eve’s estate be expended on the upkeep of the minister’s car. The resignation of Mr W. R. Featherston as envelope steward was accepted, and he was thanked for his services. Mr G. Fowke was appointed to thte position. It was resolved to thank Messrs H. Stone, B. Dobbie and E. N. Johnson for their services as past stewards.
