Asked whether, in view of the opinions expressed by the various Chambers of Commerce, the Government would now enter upon a policy designed to abrogate existing treaties and enable all the Colonies to give effective preference to Britain, Major J. Colville said that it was proposed to consult organisations representing trade generally as soon as the relevant facts could be put before them.
