Irish Intelligence Officer Dismissed. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received December 22, 11.50 a.m.) LONDON, December 21. The Dublin correspondent of the “ Daily Mail ” says that the Government has dismissed without explanation Colonel David Neligan, head of the detective division of the Civic Guard. Colonel Neligan was one of Michael Collins’s lieutenants against the British, and afterwards was an intelligence officer with the Free State Army against Mr de Valera’s irregulars. Extremist Republicans disliked Colonel Neligan, and demanded his removal They also urged the disbandment of the detective division.
