The Christmas vacation of the primary schools commenced to-day, when informal ceremonies were held at most of the schools. The vacation "’ill extend till February 1. A splendid performance of the German Requiem (Brahma) was given by Hie Cathedral choir last evening under l»r J. c. Bradshaw. The well-trained choir did full justice-to this magnificent work, which is one of the finest of sacred compositions and the best of the many written for chorus by Brahms.
