MEMORIAL CROSS.
Dedicated to Memory of Rev C. A. Fraer. To the memory of the Rev C. A. Fraer, the founder and first chaplain, a beautifully-carved cross, on the front, of the Te Waipounamu Maori School Chapel, in Ferry Road, was dedicated yesterday afternoon. It was a fitting tribute to the memory of a man who had done so much for the people he loved—a man who used his particular gifts to carry the message of God to the Maori race. The ceremony, which was attended by Mrs A. I. Fraer, Miss R. Fraer, Archbishop Julius, Bishop West-Watson, the Very Rev Dean Julius and a large number of friends of the late Mr Fraer, was simple but impressive. Apart from the cross carved on the entrance to the chapel was an inscription, couched in simple Maori language but full of meaning : “ I lei Whakamahara Tanga-ki-a, C. A. Fraer, founder and chaplain, te Waipounamu School. lie tohu-aroha,” it read, and broadly translated it means: “In loving memory of C. A. Fraer, founder and chaplain of Te Waipounamu School, with all our love.”
