The Lyttelton Borough Council has decided to write to Mr H. Gardiner, of Purau, asking him if he is agreeable for the council to secure an easement for the right to take water from the Purau Creek at a place where tests have been carried out by the borough engineer, and to lay water-pipe linos from the creek through his property to the beach road. It is pointed out that a plentiful water supply could be obtained for the Diamond Harbour settlement if the casement can be obtained. Billiards Tourney. Mark Friedlander won the flying fifty handicap billiards tournament played at the Lyttelton Club on Monday evening. The club’s annual ball will be held at the club hall this evening.
