SAFE RECOVERED.
Thieves Unable to Force Door. WAS LYING UNDER BRIDGE. The thieves who broke into the plumber’s shop of Dann Bros., at the corner of Chester Street and Oxford Terrace on Monday night got nothing for their trouble. The safe, which was taken bodily from the office of the premises, was recovered intact by an employee of the firm last evening. A cry by some children playing about the Barbadoes Street bridge that they had found “ a treasure ” led to the recovery. A workman from Dann Bros, happened to be passing at the time. Fie investigated and found the safe lying on the bank under the bridge. An attempt had been made tq force the door; it had been opened about an inch, "but not enough to allow the thieves to take anything from inside. When the safe was taken back to the shop and opened—-with the aid cf a crowbar—the money and books inside were found to be untouched. The bridge was not two hundred yards from the scene of the crime and the thieves must have carried it there so that they might work undisturbed.
