RIFLE SHOOTING.
Adjustments in National Programme Made. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, December 15. The annual rifle meeting of the National Rifle Association will be held at Trentham from Wednesday, March 2. to Saturday, March 5, both days inclusive. The ranges will be open for practice on Tuesday, March 1, and the meeting will begin with the B series of matches, which are in the nature of a try-out for the C or championship belt series of matches. Hitherto the meeting has opened with the A or compulsory series of service mach.es, but at next year’s meeting these will be fired between the B and the C series. The matches are substantially the same as last year’s, although in a few cases slight adjustments have been made to meet present conditions. The -,'ut-K-i amme is based on an entry of 130 Phonrfien and, considering the liberal n,.ize money and the valuable trophies offered by the association, there should be little difficulty in securing this number of competitors. The match for the King’s Prize, thq, blue riband of New Zealand marksmanship, will be fired on the last day of the meeting and the winner will take the championship rifle belt, gold medal and badge of the National Rifle Association and £25 in cash. Ammunition will be issued free to all competitors. Nitro-cellulose 1921 or cordite 1929 will be optional. Only ammunition as issued by the association can be used by competitors.
