This week, provided the weather does not intervene, should see the conclusion of the competition in all grades. Although another round remains to be played in the six light-weight sections, it cannot have any effect upon the result of the competition which, in all cases, wil!, be definitely won and lost after the playing of the present round. In consequence, unless there is a postpontment, it is intended to declare the whole competition closed after the tenth round and to fill in the remaining Wednesday, August 19, with a seven-a-side tournament. This tourney is, in general, an annual fixture but, owing to shortage of time and the necessity for completing the ordinary competition, had to be dropped during the past two seasons. It is, therefore, all the more to be hoped that the weather will be kmd, as the various tournaments held in the past have proved keen contests and productive of excellent football. If the tourney eventuates, grades will be provided as follows:—Under seventeen years, under sixteen years, under fifteen years, under fourteen years and under thirteen years. All ages are, as usual, to date from April 1, which is always recognised as the commencing date of the secondary schools’ Rugby football season.
