The Institute of Horticulture met last evening, Mr T. D. Lennie presiding. Delegates to the conference of allied bodies, to promote arrangements for Horticulture Week in January next, reported on the conference and stated that the preliminary work had already been done. Correspondence from Wellington in regaid to the New Zealand Narcissus Committee prompted a protest. The institute expressed the opinion that the local council should be consulted before any appointments to such a committee were made. The feeling was that the committee should be thoroughly representative of New Zealand. The local council was prepared to nominate Sir R. Heaton Rhodes. It was decided to write to Wellington in these terms.
