CHINESE BANDITS CAPTURE WOMEN.

RELIEF EXPEDITION IS SENT TO AID OF VICTIMS (United Press Assn.—-By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Mrs H. D. Hayward, an American, and Miss E. Gomersal, a British nurse, left Vim Station, Lanchow, at the end of October for Pekin. Mrs Hayward, who was critically ill, was seeking a surgical operation. Last week, when they were twenty miles from Pataochen, while travelling on rafts, bandits captured them. They were robbed and stripped of their clothing. The women are still in captivity. The weather is freezing. Other missionaries are attempting to effect a rescue. A relief party will leave Pekin to-morrow to search for the captive ladies. The party is composed of Messrs Findlay and Andrews, famine workers, Captain Staples (British Navy) and Lieutenant Kanaga (United States Navy).
