Triton, a Greek steamer bound to Cardiff from Rotterdam, is drifting ashore three miles west of Portland. The lifeboat has been launched, and a destroyer has gone to her assistance. A high sea is running, and visibility is extremely bad. GERMAN SHIP SINKS WITH ALL HANDS. WAS DRIVEN ASHORE DURING A STORM. LONDON, November 24. At Cuxhaven the steamer Louise Legnhardt was driven ashore in the Elbe estuary during the heavy gale. A salvage steamer rushed from Cux» haven, but was unable to find the wreck. It is feared that she is lost with her crew’ of thirty. The gale caused a breach in a dyke near Hamburg. A wide stretch of country has been flooded, including a village built by war cripples. A message from Paris said that sailors and soldiers- have been ordered to the outlying regions of the city to assist farmers, ow’ing to the Seine reaching the danger mark. A thousand homes have been flooded at Le Mans. A tidal wave at Etretat swept fish-ing-boats into the streets, where they crashed against the houses, which w r ere wrecked. The occupants fled in terror. The wreckage of boats and buildings is strewn in the streets.
