SPANISH REPUBLICANS ESCAPE FROM PRISON
DROPPED DOWN ROPE INTO MADRID STREET. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received November 25, 9.15 a.m.) MADRID, November 24. When the inmates of the military prison were summoned for church parade this mor ing it was discovered that Cojnmandants Ramon Franco (the airman) and Reyes, who were imprisoned for their Republican activities, had escaped by removing a grille and sliding to the street by a twenty-foot rope. General > Berenguer said that Commandant Franco could easily have walked out of the door, because he was merely privately detained. He has no*.v incurred dismissal' from the Army by breaking his parole.
