MANY HELPERS ASSIST CANCER FUND APPEAL.
“We have a wonderful lot of collectors, and the money is coming in splendidly,” said the Mayoress, Mrs J. K. Archer, in speaking this morning of the Cancer Fund appeal which is being conducted in the city to-day.
Mrs Archer said that there had been no difficulty* in securing enough helpers. A very large number of ladies had come forward, and willingly offered their services. People were giving splendidly, and in spite of the bad weather, money was coming in well. The collection was started early this morning, and nobody* was allowed to go far without paying for a small white badge. Collecting will continue till late this afternoon A fairly successful collection was made on Wednesday at the Addington sale.
