SOCIAL GATHERINGS.

Officers’ Club Dance.

The second dance of the year was held by the members of the Canterbury Officers’ Club on Saturday evening. The hall was filled with dancers, the scarlet mess kits of the menfolk making a vivid note among the paler tones of their partners’ frocks. The electric lights had been softened by Oriental shades, from which were suspended clusters of streamers. The programme was supplied by Seymour’s Orchestra. Upstairs, in the club’s lounge and card room, supper was set on tables gay with vases of yellow daisies, wattle, and autumn foliage.
