AVON ROWING CLUB HOLDS FIRST RACE.
The Avon Rowing Club made a, beginning with its 1929-30 season on Saturday afternoon, when a quarter-mile dash for scratch fours was staged. As it was the first time out this season for all crews, the rowing was more willing than brilliant. Results were as follows: First heat: Duggan’s crew beat Harvey’s by three-quarters of a length. Second heat: Heatley’s crew beat YVoodham’s by a canvas. Third heat: Batchelor’s crew beat Adkins’s by half a length Semi-final: Duggan beat Heatley by a Final: Batchelor boat Duggan by a length and a half.
