The Minister of Education has informed Mr J. M’Combs that Cabinet has approved a grant for the purchase of properties on the west side of the Woolston school grounds for the purpose of enlarging the playgrounds. Two pupils, Messrs B. J. Todd and R. S. Taylor, made their first solo flights on Saturday morning before the Canterbury Aero Club’s ’planes left for Culverden. This brings the total of new soloists for the week to twelve. Both made good flights and landings. The two Moths left for Culverden shortly before noon and on their arrival there members were recruited and given free flights.
