Complaints have been received by the Works Committee of the City Council with reference to the danger which exists on the south side of Cashel Street between Colombo Street and Oxford Terrace occasioned by the fact that the kerb in this locality is excessively high, in one place being some twenty inches above the stone set channel. The committee reported to the council last night that to obviate this it would be necessary to replace the existing channel with a flat one at a higher level and to lower the path three or four inches. The estimated cost of this work was £375, but, as no provision for the expenditure had been made on the current year’s estimates, it was recommended that the amount be placed on next year’s estimates. The recommendation was approved.
