ADVOCATES INQUIRY ON SPAHLINGER’S SERUM TREATMENT.
HON. J. A. HANAN HAS INTERVIEW WITH BACTERIOLOGIST. (Special to the ”Star.") \VELLINGTON, December 15. The Hon J. A. Hanan, of Dunedin, and Mrs Hanan, returned to-day from a visit to England and the Continent. During his stay in Switzerland Mr Hanan inspected M. Spahlinger's labor‘ atories, and had an interview with the celebrated bacteriologist. who was being assisted by his mother and wife. He spoke of the heavy cost of experimental work, Mr Hanan referred to the strong difierences of opinion in the medical profession regarding the efficacy of M. Spahlinger's serum in curing consumption. He declared that after making himself acquainted with the technical processes and the nature of M. Spahlinger's treatment there was justification for investigation by an In—ternational Commission of experts to report on its value. The League of Nations is, in Mr Hanan’s opinion, making steady progress. “All peoples have an ideal of par—manent peace,” he said. “The fact is that we are living in a world impoverished by the Great \Var, and all countries are struggling to restore their economic prosperity.
