BRILLIANT FUNCTION IN MELBOURNE TOWN HALL ATTENDED BY 2000
(United Pres* Aasn.—By Electrlo Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received November 17, 9.15 a.m.) MELBOURNE, November 17. A special film display in Melbourne Town Hall, presented by Mr H. J. Manson, New Zealand Commissioner, tonight, was a brilliant function. It was attended by over 2000 representatives and citizens, including the GovernorGeneral and Lady Stonehaven, the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress and representatives of the Federal Government, the naval, military and air forces, University professors, leading professional and business men, and distinguished visitors from other States. The presentation of the . pictures created quite a stir in the city. The hall was crowded. Extra police controlled traffic in the vicinity. Films depicting Maori life and customs and general scenic and sporting subjects created a wonderful impression and should have a stimulating effect on the tourist traffic.—Australian Press Association.
