RAZOR GANGSTER GOES TO GAOL FOR 5 YEARS.
ACCOMPLICES TRIED TO TERRORISE CROWN WITNESS

William Smiley, aged 26, was sentenced to five years’ penal servitude for causing bodily harm to two men. The prisoner, who was a razor gangster, was described as a dangerous criminal. It was also stated that the gang endeavoured to prevent the principal Crown witness from appearing and threatened to blow up the house where he resided, necessitating police protection for the house, which has already been damaged by a party of intruders the witness was away at the preliminary Court proceedings. He has now removed with his family to an undisclosed address. In the meantime the witness has had special plain clothes protectors, while proceeding to and from work.—Australian Press Association.
