COUNCIL WILL DEAL WITH VARIOUS MATTERS AT NEXT MEETING.

The following business is coming before the Christchurch City Council on Monday night: The Reserves Committee recommends the acceptance of a tender for the erection of public conveniences in Barrington Park. The question of accepting tenders for the slaughtering of stock at the abattoirs will be considered. A report on the income from the Municipal Market for the month of October will be submitted. The By-laws Committee is recommending the council to .meet the Port and City League in conference regarding the Tunnel Road. A tender will be accepted for the supply of dog collars for the year 1929. The council is recommended to make an application for the reappointment of the chief traffic inspector and the assistant chief traffic inspector as special constables. The question of subsidising subscriptions towards the provision of a swimming bath for Phillipstown -will be considered. The council is recommended to accept a tender for the supply of underground cable and 6000 yards of aerial cable. The Works Committee asks for authority to put in hand a number of works which were in the first year’s schedule of the loan recently authorised for the reconstruction of streets. The council is recommended to accept a tender for the supply of a large quantity of cement in connection with the reconstruction 'of Lincoln Road.
