The loss of a package of bank and treasury notes to the value of £7OO in the post between. Ross-on-Wye and Newport, Monmouthshire, has been revealed. The package was despatched by the Midland Bank, Ross, to the branch office at Newport.. It was registered at the local, post office, but when the parcel arrived at its destination the notes had disappeared. Defectives are puzzled by the fact that the seals of the package were intact The method of abstracting the notes is a mystery. A similar robbery occurred in the same district several months ago when treasury notes dispatched from Lydbrook Post Office were stolen from a mail bag.
