SHOPKEEPERS WILL CONTEST LAW.

CLOSING HOURS FOR SALE OF TOBACCO. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, September 28. The Labour Department is taking proceedings against a number of small shopkeepers for failing to close at the proper times. Some sixty cases were down for hearing to-day, but owing to the fact that notification has received of intention to defend some of them, all were adjourned till Friday next. Nearly all, it was stated, relate to selling cigarettes and tobacco, and the law is to be contested.
