GERALDINE RACES. Per Press Association. ORARI, September 28. The annual meeting of the Geraldine Racing Club was concluded to-day under climatic conditions that were in every way favourable. There was again a good attendance. The track was in excellent condition. Results:— SECOND HURDLE HANDICAP, Of 125 sovs. One mile and five furlongs. 4 Red Heather, 10.4 1 3-—Mime, 9.7 2 2—Carinthia, 10.13 3 Scratched: Antrim Boy, Panorama. Won by a length, a neck between second and third. Time—3min 0 4-ssec. WAINUI HANDICAP. Of 110 sovs. Six furlongs. 5 Tea Girl, 7.11 1 1— Waving Corn, 8.4 2 9—Royal Flower, 7.10 3 Pound Note was coupled with the winner. Scratched: First Raid. Won by two lengths, a head between second and third. Time—lmin 16 2-ssec. DOMAIN TROT. 2 Prince Chimes, scr 1 3 Becky Mine, scr 2 6 Frances De Oro, scr 3 Scratched: Rolls. Won by three lengths; four lengths between second and third. Time—3min 53 2-ssec. PAKURANGA PROSPECTS. (Special to the “Star.”) AUCKLAND, September 28. Among the horses which will be well backed at the Pakuranga Hunt Club’s totalisator meeting, if started in the events named, are: — Greenmount Steeples—The BahadurMashoor bracket, To Horea and Marita. Memorial Hurdles —Blago, Ramblin’ Kid and Pekatahi. Sylvia Handicap—The Lover-Bizarro bracket, Golden Wedding and Killute. Jellicoe Handicap—Valkon, Mint Leaf and Sir Archie. Cup—lmporter, Huirangi Girl and Master Arch. Auckland Handicap—The Lover, Catkin, Master Lu. Bracelet —First Prince, Waitaunaha and Moy Hall. Dunedin Handicap—Billikins, Kaiti and Freehold. ELLERSLIE NOTES. (Special to the “Star.”) AUCKLAND, September 28. It was an off morning at Ellerslie, and in consequence there was only a little fast work. No. 3 grass was open. The going was fair. Salamander and Optimistic ran half a mile in 55sec, and finished on terms.
Nancy Lee was sent over five furlongs in lmin 5 2-ssec. Freehold ran half a mile in 52 2-ssec, moving very freely. Pompeius was given strong work, running the last three furlongs in 39 3-ssec.
Laughing Prince and Metellus ran six furlongs in lmin 20 l-ssec. The former, on the outside, was going the better of the pair. Master Arch was worked over a round, running the last six furlongs in lmin 25 3-ssec. He is well seasoned.
Violation, Archangel and Motive were associated in a six-furlong .spin. The first-named was soon in front, and covered the first three furlongs in 39sec, at which stage she was several lengths in front of the other two, easily beating them home in lmin 19 2-ssec. Violation makes her debut in the Auckland Handicap to-morrow. Mint Leaf went a round in lmin 45 3-ssec. Oration joined in just after passing the six-furlong post, and there was little between them at the finish. The last six furlongs were run in lmin 20 2-ssec.
First Prince (Fanning) was schooled over a couple of hurdles. He did not fence too well over the first, but jumped the second in good style. He afterwards worked over a round on the sand.
