LEAGUE WOULD STILL EXIST, EVEN THOUGH DISARMAMENT FAILED
j ASSEMBLY ADOPTS DR BENES’S REPORT. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received September 26, 11.30 a.m.) GENEVA, September 25. The League Assembly adopted Dr Benes’s disarmament report and also passed a resolution instructing M. Loudon to communicate with the Governments concerned. During the discussion M. Paul Bon* cour (France) declared that even should disarmament fail, the League, which had other tasks to fulfil, would continue to exist, though as an uncrowned goddess. M. Tanczos (Hungary) and Count Bernstorff (Germany) reiterated their reasons for abstaining from voting. Mr Godfrey Lbcker-Lampson said that he believed that if the Governments were consulted generally they would have accepted the FrancoBritish naval compromise and the Preparatory Committee could successfully have resumed.—Australian Press Asso-ciation-United Service.
