Captain Dewar, Royal Oak Case Figure, Goes To Sea.
ADMIRALTY APPOINT HIM TO COMMAND OF BATTLE-CRUISER TIGER. (United Ff*** Association,—By Biectric TaUfT^ph—Copyright) (Received September 26, 10 a.m.) LONDON, September 25. F I S HERE lias been an interesting sequel to the Royal Oak -1. affair, the Admiralty having made an announcement that Captain Dewar has been appointed to command the battlecruiser Tiger. The ‘‘ Evening News ” says tliat the appointment is a generous act of grace on the part of the Admiralty, and probably is unprecedented. The appointment does not compare in prestige with the command of the Royal Oak, which is a battleship fullv commissioned. lhe Tiger, although a battle-cruiser, is now a sea-going gunnery-firing ship, but the Admiralty 's act in restoring Captain Dewar to a sea-going appointment gives him sufficient time to qualify for promotion to the rank of Rear-Admiral before his retirement.—Australian Press Association.
