HORSE AND RIDER STRUCK BY TRAIN.

Per Press Association. GISBORNE, August 20. Whilst waiting for a train to pass a road crossing at Waikohu a horse ridden by Peter Burns took fright and ran into a carriage of the train. The gas generator caught the horse, and carried it and the rider over the cattle stop before throwing them clear. Burns was picked up unconscious, suffering from slight concussion. The gas generator was torn from the carriage.
