TECHNICAL COLLEGES HOLD TOURNAMENT.

The annual tournament between the Christchurch and Southland Technical Colleges was commenced this morning, when the girls contested the netball and basketball. Christchurch won the netball by thirteen goals to six. Southland do not play the game regularly, and as a result they were handicapped. The Christchurch team were superior in passing and combination. Joan Craig, attacking centre, and Joan Fletcher, shooter, were outstanding players on the winning side. The basketball resulted in a win for Southland by six goals to five, after a good, evenly contested game. Eileen Small played an excellent game for Southland, and Joan Craig was prominent in the Christchurch team. The girls’ hockey and the football match were contested at Ensor’s Road in the afternoon.
