TRAM CAR ABLAZE OUTSIDE DEPOT.

A spectacular blaze was seen in Moorhouse Avenue about midnight last night, when a tramcar caught fire outside the depot on the corner of Falsgrave Street. Flames burst out in the controls under the cabin end of the car, and in a flash the draught took the flames through the whole length of the chassis. The depot staff brought chemical extinguishers to play, and the Fire Brigade quelled the outbreak. The extent of the damage is not known, but a number of oil-covered insulated control connections were burnt before the fire was quelled.
