MADE BIG HAUL OF JEWELLERY.

YOUNG MAN ADMITS DANNEVIRKE JOB, Per Press Association. DANNEVIRKE, June 22. William Guthrie Smith, aged 21, appeared before the justices this morning to answer a charge of having, on February 2, 3927, broken and entered the shop of Stubbs and Millar, Dannevirke, and stolen a number of gold and jewelled rings, one silver wristlet watch, and ten guineas in money, the total value being £2658 9s. Accused confessed to having done the job himself. He detailed how he stole the kep of the shop and went in and burgled the safe. He told of his subsequent departure for Sydney, where he was arrested when to dispose of part of the proceeds. He pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court in Wellington for sentence.
