WOMAN SHOPLIFTER REMANDED BY S.M. FOR MEDICAL EXAM.

(Special to the "Star ”) AUCKLAND, June 21. Dorothy Ilinemoa Weller, 24, was remanded till the morning for sentence (and medical examination) for shoplifting goods to the value of 27s 5d from a Karangahape Road drapery yesterday. Counsel said it was a pitiful case. Last week the woman was notified by the firm she had been working for that her services were no longer required. She was separated from her husband (on her own application). She had two children and was expecting another. She took the things in sheer desperation. The police stated that the woman had six previous convictions for theft.
