HEIRS TO £30,000 SAID TO BE IN N.Z.

A search is being made for the relatives of Mary Bridget Madden, who lived in Canterbury in 1887. In New York, there is a sum exceeding £30,000, to which, apparently, her relatives are entitled. To-day, the Mayor( the Rev. J. K. Archer), received a letter from a New York Attorney, addressed,: "The Lord Mayor, Canterbury, New Zealand.” It stated that Mary Bridget Madden, who was born in County Galway, Ireland, in 1820, or earlier, had a number of relatives, probably cousins, in New Zealand, and the writer would like to communicate with the members of the family, as it was hoped to trace, through them, the heirs to an estate worth more than £30,000. A search for heirs had been made in many parts of theworld for some years, but without success.
