TRANSPORT SYSTEM FACES BIG DEFICIT.

The Tramways Committee of the Auckland City Council is considering various proposals to increase the revenue owing to last year s deficit on city transport. Although there was a profit on the tramways there was a heavy loss on the buses. The proposals include the cancell a- ; ; tion of all concessions except workers’ j weeklies (estimated to produce £50,000), t the running of short penny sections • during the day, and the working of buses as feeders only except at peak hours.
